Melt is the organic evolution of all the previous startup programs and acquired experience. Melt was officially started in 2022 by CoworkTimisoara, but the project was on our drawing board for many years, as we tried to come up with the perfect recipe. 

We learned a lot by running startup educational programs, entrepreneurship community initiatives, and local acceleration programs. Melt is intended to be both an ecosystem growth initiative, and a scalable business with the clear mission of validating, incubating, and launching high-growth companies.

A startup studio is a company that builds other companies. The studio leverage internal resources and external partnerships to validate startup ideas, match them with experienced founders, and guide them to a successful launch. All the services are offered in return for equity in future companies.

Startup Studios are more hands-on than other startup support or educational programs, and so they also seem to have a higher success rate. A study made in 2022, of 23 leading venture studios, found that they have only a 9% fail rate. This is primarily because of the studio's more hands-on approach and deep involvement in all the startup activities. 

Operational Team - the team that handles the operations of the studio. They are not involved in the day-to-day startup activities.

General Advisory Board - a group of (3-5) people that will actively & continuously monitor the progress of projects and teams. 

Resident members/core team - permanent members of the incubator that can be involved in multiple startups.

Partners - external collaborators and companies that supplement the resident members in various domains.

Mentors - on and off people that are willing to participate in organized meetings with the teams. They don’t receive equity or money but can have priority access/options in future investment rounds.

Advisors - permanent mentors attached to a team. They will receive equity in those startups.
